American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in iconic television series including Friends, "Seinfeld" and The Middle, has died at the age of 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA on Monday having undergone treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, according to news outlets.

"Pat never met a stranger - solely future friends he hadn't encountered," his relatives said in a statement.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Prolific TV Career

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in the mid-90s, where he played the brother of the main character.

He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.

He appeared as the character Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, playing a party host known to delegate tedious tasks to his guests.

In the 90s and 2000s, he made guest appearances on numerous hit series, including:

  • The King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

His most famous role for portraying the character Bill Norwood in The Middle, starring in eight seasons of the show from 2011 to 2018.

His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups (2012).

A Life in Improv

Away from his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.

He was involved with a six-member improv team known as "Beer Shark Mice".

"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils throughout the years and it would be difficult to find someone anyplace who has a bad thing to say about him," his loved ones expressed.

Offering condolences, peer actor Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Perpetually optimistic, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared publicly.

Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, three children, and his family.
