Alpine star Lindsey Vonn states she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, following securing a podium spot for the fourth instance in her last five World Cup competitions. The veteran athlete, who achieved a milestone by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, finished third in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This represented her 142nd career World Cup top-three result. Impressive Performance in Val d'Isere Racing in the iconic venue for the first time in almost a decade, Vonn crossed the line in a time of one minute 20.60 seconds. She was just over a third of a second behind winner Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place. "I was slightly lacking enough direction on the initial jump," Vonn said. "Subsequently, I performed strongly. I'm pleased with my run today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was not aggressive enough." This performance was her second top-three finish at Val d'Isere during the event, having also claimed bronze in the downhill on Saturday. A Remarkable Comeback from Injury Vonn officially retired in February 2019 due to persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in December 2024 following a major knee surgery. With 47 days remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's form are timely. She already possesses one gold and two bronze medals from previous Games and is firmly on track to compete for the United States at the next Olympics. "At the Olympics, I will be fully ready," Vonn affirmed. Aiming for Further Glory Alongside her Olympic ambitions, Vonn is also hoping to add to the four World Cup titles she has secured over a professional journey spanning 20 years. She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the top of the downhill World Cup rankings and is sitting in fifth place in the super-G World Cup table. This current World Cup circuit includes a total of nine races scheduled before the circuit finale in Kvitfjell, Norway on 21 March 2026.
