🔗 Share this article The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Secures a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3. During the fall season, the late-night programming block saw the return of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. However, later that same month, the network introduced a completely new animated series with a distinctly unique vibe. Haha, You Clowns was heartwarming and calm, reminiscent of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. At a time often characterized by dark humor, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and helped it become a breakout hit. A Two-Season Greenlight In mid-December, Adult Swim revealed exciting news: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This gives creator Joe Cappa ample opportunity to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters. "I’m so grateful to the fans of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and helped it grow," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to spend more time in the Campbell household for a little longer." A President's Endorsement In the same announcement laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who called the series as "radically heartfelt and oddly captivating." He specifically highlighted the fans who found the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat sensibility. "All of you showed up for this new show, championed for it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could greenlight not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "In the words: 'You are strong! You are loved!'" A Different Kind of Comedy Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about watching this lovable family go about their everyday routines. At the time, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to help comedy break out of its long-running layer of irony. He linked this trend to a broader media landscape. “We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the cleverest viewer in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for 10 years, and we just have to laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.” What Comes Next With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. Or at the very least, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to bask in the heartfelt moments of the unique Campbell clan. The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is available for streaming on HBO Max.
