The popular resale platform has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all shoppers about the modification. Social Media Backlash Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms stating that platform listings now display an altered size classification versus the original listing because of the remapping. Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Changes Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, such as S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Accounts One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said. Manual Updates Another shopper, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she stated. Service Background The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK. It has become a favored option versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods after backlash from users.
